Biography: Heather Rhodes, MSN, Aprn-bc

With over three decades of clinical and academic experience, Heather Rhodes, MSN, APRN-BC brings a rare depth of insight to the intersection of medicine, mental health, and the law. As the founder and owner of Calm Journey, LLC, Heather provides Legal Nurse Consulting services to attorneys handling personal injury and medical malpractice cases, translating complex medical details into clear, defensible insights that strengthen case strategy and uncover hidden causation.

Heather is ANCC-certified through 2030 and holds advanced degrees in nursing from Washburn University, MidAmerica Nazarene University, and Regis College, where she earned her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification. Her career spans roles in acute care, behavioral health, hospice, and academia—equipping her with the clinical precision and investigative mindset essential to expert case analysis.

Beyond her consulting practice, Heather continues to serve in psychiatric care through Comprehensive Mental Health Services, Burrell, and Pawnee Mental Health Services, maintaining current, firsthand knowledge of today’s medical standards and patient care environments. She has also taught nursing at institutions including Missouri Western State University, Johnson County Community College, and Donnelly College, where she helped shape the next generation of nurses in pharmacology, mental health, and medical-surgical care.

Heather’s legal and educational background extends back to Rhodes Consulting, LLC (2006-2007), where she provided expert medical record analysis and testified for Kansas law firms. In 2007, she authored and presented “Using Medical Records to Prove Your Case” for the Kansas Bar Association through the National Business Institute, underscoring her commitment to bridging clinical expertise with the needs of the legal community.

An active member of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC), American Nurses Association, Kansas Nurses Association, and AANP, Heather also contributes to professional development through her continuing education courses for CEUfast and her published works in the RN Journal, Women’s Golf, and the Journal of Practical Nursing.

Through Calm Journey, LLC, Heather combines her passion for patient advocacy, clinical excellence, and legal clarity—helping attorneys save time, strengthen arguments, and uncover the truth behind medical records. Each case she reviews is approached with the same care, curiosity, and commitment that have defined her lifelong journey in nursing.
